The symbol of Romanov Dynasty rule this double-headed eagle reproduction is adapted from a Fabergé gold, enamel and moonstone cigarette case in the Matilda Geddings Gray Foundation Collection, New Orleans.
An ancient Byzantine emblem, the double-headed eagle was adopted by the Romanovs as their dynastic symbol when they came to power in 1613. The Matilda Geddings Gray Foundation Collection Extended Loan to the New Orleans Museum of Art.
